STATEMENT OF FAITH
The following statement of faith contains those Biblical principles that we believe to be essentials in regard to the faith and practice of the Church. These statements are not intended to be a test of fellowship, but rather a foundation for which all activities of the Church will be based. These are the foundational Biblical principles that will be preached, taught and upheld by this congregation. As situations arise, the spiritual leaders of the congregation may under the guidance of the Holy Spirit and the study of His Word make additions or clarifications.
We believe in one God – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, three in person, one in nature and purpose.
(Deut. 6:4; Isa. 45:5; Matt. 4:10; John 14:6-11; I Cor. 8:4; I Tim. 1:17 / Gen. 1:26; Matt 28:19; I Cor. 12:4-6; II Cor. 13:14; I Peter 1:2).
We believe in God the Father Almighty, Creator of all things visible and invisible Who created all things visible and invisible in 6 consecutive literal 24 hour days.
(Genesis 1:1-31; Exodus 20:11; John 1:3; Acts 17:24-28; Col. 1:16; Hebrews
11:3).
We believe in Jesus Christ, God’s one and only Son, my one and only Savior and Lord
(John 1:14; I John 4:9 / John 3:16; John 14:6; Acts 4:12; Romans 10:9; I Cor. 8:6; Eph. 4:5; II Peter 3:18).
Who was born Jesus of Nazareth, both fully human and fully divine,
conceived of the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary
(Matthew 21:11; John 19:19 / John 1:14; Romans 5:15-17; Colossians 2:9; I John
1:1 / Isa. 7:14Mathew 1:18-25; Luke 1:26-38).
Who suffered and was crucified under Pontius Pilate (Luke 23:1-46)
Who died and was buried, and who rose again bodily from the dead on the
third day for the salvation of all mankind (Luke 23:44-24:8; John 20:24-29; Rom. 14:9; I Corinthians 15:3-8; I Tim. 2:4; Rev 5:9).
Who ascended into Heaven and now sits at the right hand of the Father, occupying the spiritual throne of David, executing the spiritual millennial reign of Christ, enthroned as the Ruler of God’s Kingdom, the spiritual Israel, the Church
(Luke 22:69; Acts 1:1-9; Colossians 3:1 / II Sam. 7:12-16; Heb. 1:5; Rev 3:21 / Jer. 33:12-18; Acts 2:29-36 / Gal. 6:15-16; Phil. 3:2-3; I Peter 2:9).
Who will return to earth once to immediately and eternally judge both the living and the dead and usher in eternity
(Matthew 24:36-44; John 14:1-3; Acts 1:10-11; 10:39-42; I Peter 4:5).
We believe in the Holy Spirit, Who is an active and operative part of the triune God
(John 16:5-15; Acts 1:7-8; Romans 8:26-27), and who dwells in every Christian (I Corinthians 3:16; 6:19; II Timothy 1:14).
We believe in the Bible – God’s Holy Word, Scripture. We believe God (plenary) inspired the autographs (original writings) of the Scripture by the Holy Spirit and those writings were consequently without error (inerrant).
(Mark 12:36; John 14:26; 16:12-15; Acts 1:16; I Corinthians 2:12-13; II Timothy 3:14-16; II Peter 1:20-21 / Tit. 1:2; I John 3:20 / Ps. 12:6; 19:7-10; Prov. 30:5; John 10:35; 17:17).
We accept the Bible as the only authority for all matters of faith and practice. It is complete and all that is necessary for the teaching of truth and the making of disciples.
(Isaiah 40:8; Matthew 5:18; 24:35; Romans 15:4; II Tim. 3:16-17; Hebrews 4:12)
We believe the Bible teaches that man, created by God, willfully sinned against God
and is consequently eternally lost and damned and without hope apart from Jesus Christ.
(Acts 4:12; Romans 3:23; 5:12-19; I John 1:10)
We believe the Bible teaches that salvation-the forgiveness of sin-is only by grace through the blood of Jesus Christ and is open to all who will receive it by faith. (Matthew 26:28; Romans 5:9; Ephesians 2:8-9; I Peter 1:18-19; I John 1:7).
We believe the Bible teaches one receives God’s grace by putting faith in Christ,
repenting of sin, confessing Christ and being immersed in water into Christ, but that none of these is sufficient in and of itself for the assurance of salvation. Salvation is by grace, through faith, at baptism.
(Romans 5:1-2 / Luke 24:45-47; Acts 3:19; 17:30; II Peter 3:9 / Matthew 10:32;
Romans 10:9; Philippians 2:11; I John 4:15 / Acts 2:38; Romans 6:1-7;
Galatians 3:27; Colossians 2:12; I Peter 3:21).
We believe in the Church of Jesus Christ, the Spiritual Kingdom of God, as prophesied in the Old Testament and as the total fulfillment of God’s Kingdom in prophecy, founded on the Day of Pentecost and consisting of all Christians everywhere
(Matthew 16:13-18; Acts 2:14-47).
We believe that the temporary, miraculous, spiritual gifts of the apostolic age have ceased and are no longer valid today; The Bible being the only source of divine knowledge and revelation necessary for the Christian.
(I Corinthians 13:10).
We believe there are three permanent offices established by God to lead and oversee His Church. These are the offices of evangelist, elder and deacon.
(I Cor. 14:34-40; Eph. 5:22-33; I Tim. 2:11-15)
We believe the Bible teaches that the evangelist is to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ and to teach the pure and whole doctrine of the Bible to all and to set the church in order. He is to be a minister to all who seek his guidance and help.
(Acts 21:8; Eph. 4:11; II Tim. 4:1-6; Titus 1:5)
We believe the Bible teaches that the elders are to execute spiritual oversight over the local Congregation. They are to protect and serve the spiritual needs of the flock of God.
(Acts 20:28; Philippians 1:1; I Timothy 3:1-7; Titus 1:5-9; I Peter 5:1-4).
We believe the Bible teaches that the deacons are to execute physical oversight over the local congregation. They are to protect and serve the physical needs of the flock of God.
(Acts 6:1-6; Phil. 1:1; I Tim. 3:8-13)
We believe that God is the Creator of all life. Furthermore, we believe that human life begins at conception and has full value and worth as a human being. Therefore, we believe abortion is murder and thus a sin.
(Genesis 1:26-27; 9:4-6; Exodus 20:13; 21:14, 22-25; Deuteronomy 5:17;
Matthew 5:21; 19:18; Romans 13:9; James 2:11; 4:2)
We believe that marriage is designed by God and instituted by God. We believe that marriage, as defined by God in His Word, the Bible, is between one man and one woman. Biblical marriage is to be honored by all individuals and the Church.
(Genesis 1:27-28; 2:20-25; 3:20; 4:1; Hebrews 13:4)
We believe that homosexuality is a sin. Furthermore, we reject any claims to authentic marriage by homosexual couples. The state has no rule over the Church and thus no legitimate claims to solemnize marriages that must be accepted by the Church.
(Genesis 19:1-29; Leviticus 18:22; 20:13; Romans 1:26-27; I Corinthians 6:9;
I Timothy 1:10)
